  • Szarvas Gábor a Portfolio Sustainable World 2022 konferenciáján

A Portfolio Sustainable World 2022 konferenciáján Szarvas Gábor, Greenbors ügyvezető igazgatója & a HuGBC EU Taxonómia munkacsoportjának vezetője is előadást tartott. Az EU Taxonómiájának célja a fenntarthatósági szempontok előtérbe helyezése a pénzügyi piacon. A keretrendszer követelményei uniós szinten egységesen alkalmazandók, ugyanakkor bizonyos követelményelemek teljesítése helyi szabályozásoktól függően eltérő lehet. Az ingatlanokkal kapcsolatos követelmények kidolgozásában és alkalmazásában a World Green Building Council és a nemzeti GBC-k - így a Hungary Green Building Council (HuGBC)is - aktív szerepet vállaltak. Erről a szerepről beszélt röviden Gábor.

  • Certified Sustainability Manager Training provided by Zsombor Barta

https://certifiedsustainabilitymanager.com/a-beton-es-muanyag-tobbet-nyom-mint-a-termeszet/ The title is to be understood literally: 2020 was the first year in the history of the earth when the so-called anthropogenic mass, i.e. man-made mass, i.e. buildings, movables and objects it weighed more than all the plants and animals on Earth. "For this mass the largest share is concrete and infrastructure, and this is a big problem", says Zsombor Barta, President of the Hungarian Environmentally Conscious Building Association (HuGBC), Green Brands sustainability manager training instructor. The Hungarian member organization of the international network deals with what Zsombor Barta teaches: how to make and maintain the development of the built environment in a sustainable direction, how it is possible to eliminate the sector's deep ecological footprint. “In the online video series and in the face-to-face meeting with the students, it is global I will explain facts and trends through focus, and we will see what frameworks, international good practices exist to put the architecture and construction industry on a sustainable path let's say", he says. The president of HuGBC also mentions a good example, similar to which Certified presents Sustainability Manager (CSM) training. "It is related to the circular economy Temporary Court House in Amsterdam, which for that period were erected until the final courthouse was completed. A modular, LEGO-like, however, you have to think about a large building that meets all needs, but when it has fulfilled its function, it can be taken apart and reassembled elsewhere, where necessary on it." According to Zsombor Barta, there are "painfully few" similar examples in the construction industry, although there are we can mention the ABN Amro Bank Circle building, where it is in the spirit of recycling the insulation was made from employees' jeans.

  • Further Education provided by our delegates: SEED-Corvinus Executive Courses

The SustainABLE Leader | Act on Purpose – Turning Concepts into Actionsfrom 6 October 2022 with Beáta Barkóczi, Dr. Bálint Horváth and Zsombor Barta The program is based on the realization that while sustainability is often talked about even in a corporate setting, usually the discussion remains on a very high level. The goal is to connect high-level goals and actions with the everyday reality of corporate middle management and lead to realizations that practical solutions are within reach. The program aims to make a difference between industry-specific, usually large-scale solutions, mostly best left to global top management and specialized experts, and generally applicable, cross-industry, mid- or small-scale solutions that can be realized in the framework of business-as-usual corporate life. The program differentiates between key goals under the umbrella notion of sustainability and aims to introduce the development of the concept. It is important to enable participants to choose the emphasis of their commitments towards sustainability based on a sophisticated understanding. https://seed-uni.com/programs/seed-corvinus-executive-courses/business-workshops/#tab-id-8

  • BBJ Article: Investment and Letting Deals Ongoing Despite Pandemic

..." “Comprehensive sustainability strategies and holistic energy efficiency and green building ratings are important for existing and new retail projects. The Etele Plaza project by Futureal is such an accredited development, but, for example, the Allee Shopping Center is also a well-known example for certified and increased sustainability,” comments Zsombor Barta, president of the HuGBC. “In terms of sustainability, the deals including green bonds issuance are of high importance; for example, CPI,” says Barta. “This trend highlights the importance of sustainability within the investment and financing sector. This further strengthens Hungarian real estate deals, where ESG compliance reporting was also part of the process. The financing and investing sector is also highlighting the importance of sustainability, of reduced risks related to climate change and emissions, etc.,” he concludes." ... https://bbj.hu/economy/statistics/analysis/investment-and-letting-deals-ongoing-despite-pandemic

  • BBJ Article: Coronavirus Accelerates Changes in Office Design

Approaches to office design and organization are changing in reaction to the coronavirus pandemic, accelerating a process already underway due to changing tenant and staff demands and increasingly stringent sustainability regulations and practices. Office interiors are a central element of the concept, design, property and facility management of office projects. This is a response to ever more complex and sophisticated demands from office users, more stringent sustainability and environmental regulations, and health and safety issues related to COVID and its aftermath. With hybrid office use (a blend of working from home and in a central space), design priorities are now based on communal areas, collaborative spaces and meeting rooms, according to Zsombor Barta, president of the Hungarian Green Building Council (HuGBC). “The trend had already started before the pandemic to develop or restyle the office to create more interactive and flexible places, where creative ideas can be grown, human interactions are possible, and diverse working places are integrated,” he says. “This is becoming even more important for the future. Also, the time has passed for over-crowded and fully packed offices places; mainly because of hygienic and pandemic issues,” Barta adds. ... https://bbj.hu/business/real-estate/office-market/coronavirus-accelerates-changes-in-office-design

  • BBJ Article: Property Sustainability Integrating Into Wider Regularity Systems

With the perceived growing need for third-party accountability, commercial property sustainability accreditation systems are already being designed for various project types, and not only the “classical” office, retail and industrial sectors. “They are already positive examples about masterplan level certifications [BREEAM Communities standard] for larger scaled urban development projects – for example, Liget Budapest, or Agora Budapest – where not just the building level sustainability accreditation is within the focus, but the whole project’s sustainable integration into an existing urban network is analyzed, and a wide range of stakeholders are consulted as well,” explains Zsombor Barta, president of the Hungarian Green Building Council (HuGBC). “But beyond that, we also see that the new EU taxonomy regulation, which sets new sector-specific standards regarding sustainable market operations, is also being heavily considered by different stakeholders, including the classical green building rating schemes, which also adopts the EU Taxonomy-related requirements within their own scheme. EU Taxonomy, ESG benchmarking, or BREEAM / LEED ratings are all standards focusing on the real estate sector in general and are setting holistic sustainability frameworks, which are not sector-specific,” he adds. The HuGBC president says the EU taxonomy focuses on an ambitious pathway towards a net-zero EU by 2050. To achieve this ambitious goal, the real estate sector needs to switch to more energy-efficient and therefore more sustainable buildings, Barta argues. This energy efficiency focus is currently also being introduced to the updated BREEAM certification framework to harmonize with the new EU taxonomy regulation. https://bbj.hu/business/real-estate/sustainability/property-sustainability-integrating-into-wider-regularity-systems

  • BBJ Article: Property and Facility Management Leading the ESG Charge

... " Zsombor Barta, president of the Hungarian Green Building Council (HuGBC), argues that with safe work in focus after the pandemic, WELL certifications for internal spaces are becoming highly popular. “Again, FM/PM plays an important role, as increased health and safety strategies need to be implemented in order to fulfill the requirements of the certification scheme,” he tells the Budapest Business Journal. “In general, all these certifications and benchmarking standards ask for increased management strategies and implementation of best practice measures, which increases the overall sustainability. Therefore, FM/PM plays a very important role in this, and the increased demand for ESG and other sustainability standards will only encourage this,” Barta adds. PM and FM are regarded as needing to further adapt to the increasing trend for office development in line with WELL sustainability requirements. Regina Kurucz, head of the WELL working group at the HuGBC, argues that FM should primarily serve the users, not the buildings. The results of FM actions should be monitored with the end-user in mind, she says. For example, did changing the filters in the ventilation system really improve air quality? This question can only be answered if measurements are made regularly. Benchmarking and accountability are central to a functioning office project. “ESG is becoming a highly important issue on the real estate market because sustainability and low carbon emissions are the baselines for financial risk mitigation and eligibility for beneficial financial conditions as well,” Barta agrees. “We see on the market that ESG assessments are picking up. ESG assessments are important benchmarking data for financial stakeholders; therefore, PM/FM plays an important role in how a building is performing, what increased measures and strategies are in place, etc.,” he says."... https://bbj.hu/business/real-estate/office-market/property-and-facility-management-leading-the-esg-charge

  • Benchmarking for EU Taxonomy Established

The Budapest Business Journal's article from August 06 2022 about the building emission's rankings and current trends. Zsombor Barta was interviewed about the EU Taxonomy in this article: ..." Benchmarking for EU Taxonomy Established There is already an elaborated and standardized EU Taxonomy requirement list available for various business sectors that defines what is considered sustainable business activity within the European Union, says Zsombor Barta, president of the Hungarian Green Building Council (HuGBC). This is a crucial step towards a more transparent and standardized benchmarking methodology within the union, especially as certain financial benefits are or will be connected to the taxonomy compliance conditions. “We are very proud and happy as the Hungarian Green Building Council collaborated with the National Bank of Hungary on the adaptation of the EU Taxonomy for the real estate sector in Hungary. Further, the HuGBC can also verify taxonomy compliance in this sector, which is, again, an important milestone related to the third-party verification of EU Taxonomy compliance.”"... https://bbj.hu/business/real-estate/sustainability/hungary-ranked-13th-in-kpmg-net-zero-readiness-index

  • BBJ Article: New Definition of ESG Adapted to Hungarian Conditions

There has been no centralized guideline for ESG criteria that everybody accepts and can adopt. Therefore, a clear definition and framework are necessary, it was argued at the Green Future Conference 20022, organized by the Hungarian Green Building Council (HuGBC). “This is not like LEED or BREEAM, which are already set frameworks. Everybody knows that the value of the stamp from LEED and BREEAM is the same in London or Budapest,” explains Zsombor Barta, president of the HuGBC. “Because there was no centralized framework for the meaning of ESG and sustainable economic activities, the EU has attempted to define the meaning of sustainable economic activity with EU Taxonomy regulations and a specialized framework for each economic sector. Essentially, how to measure sustainability,” he says. “Indeed, this is different from classical ESG benchmarking or ratings because the EU has ambitious targets related to climate change, CO2 emissions and the Paris Agreement. The EU considered that if it is putting a framework for sustainable economic activity together, then, of course, it should also serve at the same time the ambitious targets related to climate change and CO2 emissions. This was how EU Taxonomy was born in May 2021,” the president argues. “The National Bank of Hungary asked us to cooperate with them to elaborate the adaptation of the EU Taxonomy regulation with regard to new buildings, renovations, and existing buildings in Hungary. The result is that this collaboration adapted EU Taxonomy to the Hungarian market; EU Taxonomy requirements are hard to fulfill as they are very ambitious frameworks and targets,” Barta adds. ... https://bbj.hu/business/real-estate/sustainability/new-definition-of-esg-adapted-to-hungarian-conditions

  • Fenntarthatósági kitekintés a LEO FM IV.

Konkrét megtakarítási lehetőségek a felmérés nyomán is láthatóvá válnak.
